EXPLORE THE BIBLE • CELEBRATE THE AFRICAN EXPERIENCE
Why the Bible?
The Bible is one of the most influential pieces of literature in the world. Its impact is seen in things such as architecture, governments, laws, human rights, and so much more. It has been burnt, destroyed, and banned.
This piece of literature garners such attention and impact because it is more than just literature. The Bible is written by God through the selected people that He chose. It is anointed by Him and His recorded words are sharper than a double-edged sword. His words are alive – they are life-changing- they are challenging – they are thought-provoking and they are forever – not changing with political winds or time. They are the same yesterday today and tomorrow.
The Bible has brought help to those in time of need, hope to those who can not see past their current circumstances, and life to those who think life is not worth living.
The Bible is remarkable, and the impact of the Bible fills thousands of books, movies are made about the stories found in the Bible, and songs are written about the words found within it.
Why a Bible Museum in Ghana, Africa?
There is one story of the impact of the Bible and the characters of the Bible that has not received the light that it so richly deserves. Ghana has a very unique opportunity to tell that story. Doing so will impact not only Ghana but the African continent as well as the world.
The story of the role that Africans played in the Bible is not only remarkable, but these facts add a layer of richness to our understanding of the Bible that has not been shared widely and is not known by many.
This Bible Museum in Ghana gives us the incredible opportunity to tell the story of Africa and the Bible. This includes the often forgotten African contribution to the Bible, the Impact the Bible has had within the Africa, and to advance the Kingdom of God on this great continent.

This museum is more than four walls, it is a Global creation on the great continent of Africa.

The Bible Museum of Africa has a seamless connection to the National Cathedral and can be entered via the cathedral or an outside entrance. The museum occupies three levels with each level being a different chapter of the Bible experience.
The Ground Floor exhibition celebrates the African experience through the story of Africa’s unique embrace of the Bible.
Here we explore how African Christianity has come to shape world religion and energize African identity and nationhood.
The Upper Level exhibition showcases artifactual evidence and historic narrative to trace the formation of the Old Testament, its early spread in the ancient world, its adoption by various faith traditions in Africa, and the ongoing archeological and scholarly study that furthers our understanding of its context, history, and enduring relevance to African life today.
Exhibits on the Lower Level explore the New Testament, its influence on African Christianity, and its enduring relevance in shaping African identity, culture, and faith.
This floor offers one of the key galleries featuring a walk-through Journey of the New Testament.
The Ground Floor
The Ground Floor exhibition celebrates the African experience through the story of Africa’s unique embrace of the Bible. Here we explore how African Christianity has come to shape world religion and energize African identity and nationhood.
Through exhibits ranging from antiquity displays to digital interactives, visitors explore the rich history of Biblical
events that happened in Africa, the critical role of Africans who helped form and transmit the Bible through the
ancient world, the enduring presence of the Bible in Africa, and the impact of heart-language translations on the embrace and spread of the Bible throughout the continent’s diverse cultures.

The ground floor also consists of the lobby and gift shop.
Tracing the explosive growth of the Bible’s impact in 20th and 21st century Africa, exhibits show the transformative influence of the Bible on cultures and communities, the uniquely African Church that arose from their embrace of the Bible, and the critical role of the Church and its Biblical foundations on African identity and the formation of the modern democratic nation.
The feature of the ground level is the image of GATHERING.

Visitors join in a rhythmic procession to a gathering tree as they learn of the vast sweep of the Abrahamic traditions throughout the continent of Africa, the diversity of its 1.3 billion people, the richness of its more than 2,000 language traditions, and its energetic practices of faith
The Theatre of Africa will introduce guests to a sampling of themes that are foundational within daily life for Africans. They are found in the Bible and displayed throughout the museum experience.
Through an immersive media presentation of scripture, artwork, praise, and music, visitors learn of the unique African embrace of the Bible and its impact on identity, nationhood, and the world.
“Hear These Words of Mine" - Matthew 7:24
Following the rhythm of procession and gathering, exhibits show how Africans journeying from home – some
as captives, others as opportunity-seekers, some as evangelist – have carried a unique faith perspective that
continues to gather Africans around the Bible and has ongoing impact on world history and religion – called
the Diaspora.
The Upper Level
The Upper-Level exhibition showcases artifactual evidence and historic narrative to trace the formation of the Old Testament, its early spread in the ancient world, its adoption by various faith traditions in Africa, and the ongoing archeological and scholarly study that furthers our understanding of its context, history, and enduring relevance to life today.
The influence on Africa Christianity and the enduring relevance in shaping African identity, culture and faith
is explored through seven immersive pavilions dealing with the creation, covenant, dependence on God, dedication, Redemption, forgiveness, and salvation.
Highly visual imagery combined with archaeological evidence show the importance of the land in setting
content for understanding Old Testament stories and reveal the similarities of Biblical lands and lifeways
with familiar landscapes and communities in Africa.
This floor will have a rich display of antiquities that date back to the time of Abraham and create touchstones for our visitors. Several presentations will be offered in a pavilion concept. Most of the images used here will be from art commissioned by African artists.
